A Study on the Meaning of Touch

Abstract

|
Touch is the way the human express his/her Feeling. Also many treatments are carried
through touch. Through touch, People begin to learn love and trust in others. For a patient, touch means more than a thousand words. This study is fieldwork report concerning about touch.
The purpose of this study is to describe the meaning of touch that human have.
The date were gathered through interview and observation from subjects that were clients and therapist in D physical therapy room and that were 5 nurses and their families during April 29, 1993 through June 12, 1993.
In the result of the study,
The subjects response to touch could be divided two forms of touch; therapeutic form of touch and casual form of touch.
The meaning of touch that subjects have had are presented in five domains; sensitivity, the flow of energy, inevitable process, communication, correction.
